So i came across this post yesterday from The Kitchen Rag about nutritional typing. It was very interesting and i have actually taken the test that she is talking about from Dr. Mercola. I’m not really sure of the science/research/reasoning behind the test but i remember now that it made sense to me.According to the test I am a protein type! Hah surprise! ( not really). Protein types do well on a high protein high fat diet without many carbs.
Protein types do very well on a diet that includes plenty of high-density, high-fat proteins known as “high-purine” proteins. These include foods like red meat, dark meat chicken and turkey, and various kinds of seafood such as salmon, tuna, herring, sardines, mussels, caviar and anchovies. Most protein types can also eat freely of whole fat foods in the form of cheese, eggs, cream and milk. It’s especially important for protein types to include a significant amount of protein at every meal, and to moderate their intake of carbohydrates (grains, vegetables and fruits), especially the carbohydrates that are high in sugar and starch.-http://www.metabolictypingdiet.com/_Reat.htm
Many of the things in the post from The Kitchen Rag are true for me also like getting really hungry on a low-fat diet; being able to digest meat really well; and craving dark meat over light. Also not feel well on a fast. Not sure why i had forgotten this. I feel kinda silly now. No wonder I didn’t feel well doing only juicing. I guess this was a lesson in listening to your body. I still think juicing can be great for some people and I will still do it to some extent but all out fasting is definitely not for me! Everybody is different and needs different things. There is no ONE perfect diet out there. I know that i feel better eating lots of meat and eggs and cheese and butter So that’s what I’m gonna keep doing. What about you? Have you ever taking a nutritional typing test and did you agree with it?
